I achieved my goal of making cupcakes and making them look pretty close the the pictures on instagram.
Everyone that has had one thinks that they are pretty good so far, but I will leave that to you to decide.

I followed a long tedious recipe. It took a couple of hours which wasn't that bad and it was fun.

I learned that baking is a little harder than it seems and that we shouldn't take a lot of these foods for granted. I kind of enjoyed it and would do it again sometime.

Pre Final

1.The goal of this project is to figure out if I can bake well. These cupcakes look delicious and I want to challenge myself to make them. Another goal of this project is to see if as many people on Instagram like cupcakes as Pinterest.
2.I will pin 10 pictures of Kit Kat cupcakes on a board and then post my final product on Instagram to see how many likes I can get. I do not know if my final product will look very appetizing but I will try to make it as appealing as I can.
3. I already know that I want to have a chocolate cupcake with a bit of a Kit Kat in the middle, then I want to either have chocolate frosting or peanut butter frosting on top, and then I want to have Kit Kat crumbles on top of the frosting and in it. I'm going to give scratch a run for their money.
The Journal of Suffering:
Monday: Twitter:3 Just went on it and look at the tweets at the top of my feed.
Tuesday: Twitter:3 Same as above.
Wednesday: Twitter:5 Looked at memes. Instagram:3  posted a picture and got 54 likes, felt pretty good since I only have 137 followers. Snapchat:1 A silly picture from a friend.
Thursday: Twitter:2 Just opened the app on accident. Instagram:3 checking up on my likes.
Friday: Twitter:1 Retweeted some tweets by athlete accounts.
Saturday: Instagram:3 My girlfriend told me to look at things so of course you have to obey. Twitter:1 Retweeting funny quotes.
Sunday: Nothing, too busy.
Monday: None.
This wasn't really that much of a struggle for me because I'm not on social media that much, just when I have extra time or need to talk to someone that I don't have their number.

Cinco de Mayo

http://www.boston.com/business/innovation/2014/05/05/police-expand-social-media-reach-help-solve-cases-fight-crime/bSlhi984msvNnTEgbNrsPJ/story.html?rss_id=Top+Stories
1. The summary of this article is that police are starting to use social media to help fight crime and solve cases. Not only have they already been using Facebook and twitter but they are starting to use Pinterest and YouTube as well.
2. This article stuck out to me because usually when you hear about social media it has nothing to do with good things and the law it is usually always bullying or someone scamming people for money.
3. I think this shows that social media can be helpful to police to help find out where people are or find out where items are that someone has stolen.
http://time.com/88203/look-up-social-media-gary-turk/
1.This is actually a video that talks about how social media is ruining our lives and how social we really are.
2. This article stuck out to me because there aren't a lot of young people that think social media is bad for you, we are usually the ones that are using it all the time.
3. This says that social media is bad and is ruining our lives. I don't really agree with this article. It isn't a bad thing if you are on it every once in awhile. It is a good way to connect with people and learn new things. The only time when it's bad is if it isn't being used for the right reasons or if it is used too much. I don't know how some people can be on it for hours. I like to get out and see the world.
http://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/225140/wall-street-skeptical-about-social-media-stocks.html
1. This article is about investors and their investments in social sites. They were talking about Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. They said Facebook is more stable business wise and that a lot of people are hesitating to invest in twitter because it lacks growth.
2. This article stuck out to me because not a lot of people talk about social media in the stock market. So many people just take it for granted and forget to remember that these are actual business with corporations and investors, not just a fun site that they like.
3. This proves that social media sites don't just pop up on their own. They need programmers, fresh ideas, money, advertising, and investors to get started. Just to start it. The social media business is tough because you have to compete with up and coming things, so companies need to be on your toes.

Trick

Twitter is social media because it is used by almost everyone for connecting with friends, customers, and celebrities. Twitter in itself is almost like its own world.
I chose the list feature because I didn't even know about it but it's really cool. It is used to recommend accounts for people to follow, so if someone wants some insight they can go look at your lists and see the different subjects of lists that you have, open one of them, and see which people they want to follow.

App Crap

The major social media apps I use are Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. I don't really check these apps that often maybe once or twice a day. I use each app to see what's happening in the world or with my friends. I don't really use social media for news or advice it's usually just looking at stupid or funny pictures and getting a good laugh. I occasionally make a tweet or post a picture.

Relationships TED

I chose this area because it interests me a lot. There are many different types of relationships and it is neat to see what certain people like in relationships, whether it's boyfriend girlfriend, friends, teacher, student, parent. There are many different relationships. I hope to gain a better understanding of certain relationships that I don't understand so I can know why people do certain things. It inspired me because everything else looked kind of boring.

Generation Like

Well mostly what i do is post pictures on instagram or retweet funny tweets. I'm not really that into social media but yeah I'm on it. I  think our generation strives to get the most likes on everything they do when really I kind of think it isn't a big deal because really it's just a person clicking a button. I myself try to work towards real world goals, it doesn't bother me how many likes I get on social media because no matter what I have my friends, my family, and my goals and that is all I need.

I think we use the Internet a lot which is why I think it is funny that parents and schools put a taboo on phones and computers. We use Internet and computers for projects, research, games, advertisement, social accomplishment, and many more things. The reason why I think that it is so popular is because people want the chance to escape reality and to take a break from the real world. It has its pros and cons but overall the Internet is a good thing because it gives us a bunch of sources to find out what our mind craves.

I agreed with the documentary on the advertisements because once somebody gets famous everybody is pushing for them to wear their clothes or be in a commercial. It is all just a marketing ploy because they know people are going to be watching these videos. I also think they were right when they said people can get famous fast because kids that made YouTube videos in their basements 2 years ago can all of the sudden turn into billionaires, sometimes it doesn't make sense.

I disagreed with the documentary on the whole like thing because not everybody just goes on likes honestly I think comments are way more meaningful than likes because people can like your photo or post just because, where a comment takes time and thought not just clicking a button.

1.I agree with the text-talk one. not all people use short text lingo most of us spell out the entire words. some people are just not good spellers and I also think that adults hold is to HIGH standards. they try to have us spell words that we have never seen or used before which I'm sure they had trouble with too.
2. I disagree with the addicted to technology one because although not all of us are there are some teens that are terrible about it. I know some girls that are on their phones and twitter non-stop and it gets very annoying. I don't think we are that bad but we have our downfalls. It as not all our fault though because most of our homework and assignments are based on a computer.
3. I think I would tell them about the antisocial one because it is very hypocritical. Some of our parents spend all day sitting in a chair on the computer and they seem just fine to us. Why should it be different just for teens? Most of us aren't on the computer or twitter or anything for hours on end we just look at it every once in awhile.
4. I think that the myth that a lot of parents say is that social media is pointless because it has a lot of benefits and it can help you learn a lot about the world. We can communicate with celebrities, friends, family, and companies in our spare time. It is a time to relax, have a laugh or two, and then move on with your life.

1. A good infographic talks about things that people actually care about and are interested in and has lots of pictures and charts because most people are too lazy to read. Bad ones talk about boring topics and are mostly words.
a. I saw one that Mr.B showed in class to us.
b. I think they can be useful for adressing issues and giving statistics so people realize how severe the issue is.
c. They might be  able to replace research papers and they would be shorter.

a. Good infographs include a good story accurate data a cool design and can be shareable.

A CHARLOTTE, North Carolina man, having purchased a case of rare, very expensive cigars, insured them against (get this) fire! Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of fabulous cigars, and having yet to make a single premium payment on the policy, the man filed a claim against the insurance company.
In his claim, the man stated that he had lost the cigars "in a series of small fires." The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason that the man had consumed the cigars in a normal fashion. The man sued — and won! In delivering his ruling, the judge stated that since the man held a policy from the company in which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that the cigars would be insured against fire, without defining what it considered to be unacceptable fire, it was obligated to compensate the insured for his loss.
Rather than endure a lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company grudgingly accepted the judge's ruling and paid the man $15,000 for the rare cigars he lost in the fires. After the man cashed his check, however, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of arson. With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used as evidence against him, the man was convicted of intentionally burning the rare cigars and sentenced to 24 consecutive one-year terms.
So don't piss off your insurance company!
I

Our group chose this theme to portray some of the weird vines that are out there. Our theme was selfies with strangers and as you can see if you would have been one of the random people you would have been freaked out.
I think this theme worked for vine because it was very awkward but funny at the same time which entertains people.
To contribute to the video I was like one of the photo bombers who stood in the background and I also filmed one vine.
This was difficult because I'm sure you can tell I'm shy. We also overcame our fears to film complete strangers taking the risk that someone would get angry.
If I were to do this assignment again I would give myself more time to think about a theme and to get more people that way you could make it as funny as possible.

I think the best group was the one that talked about Dowling because it was funny and it had a very close relation of our everyday lives here at Dowling.
